In general, players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment that will not replace in the near future (such as an earring or a cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value and the new trinket will receive an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading.
