One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.
