In our tests this model was able to clean well on carpeted and hard flooring and picked up 91.3 percent of debris in serpentine paths. It's not quite as good in removing dirt from corners and edges as the more expensive models. The D4's side sensors keep it about 1.5 inches from walls. Also, it doesn't have the side-sweeping brush on all, if not the cheapest robotic cleaners. In addition, its raised turret isn't able to fit under low-clearance furniture. It does support virtual No-Go Lines so you can draw lines on your floor plan to tell the D4 not to move there. Its 75-minute battery life is about average, too. But that's a small trade-off for the ease of use this model offers.

2. iRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba from iRobot is the flagship robot of the company, providing premium performance and features that are connected. The retail price for the 980 is $800/PS899 however you can often find it for less online.

The 980 comes with the most advanced cleaning system of any of our top picks, with the HEPA filter that can trap microscopic dust and allergens for better air quality in your home. It is also compatible with a variety of flooring surfaces including tiles and hardwoods.

One of the most recognizable features of the 980 is its top-mounted camera and SLAM sensor which allow it to move more efficiently than other Roombas even in tight spaces such as hallways and corners. iRobot calls this technology iAdapt 2.0, and it uses snapshots from the camera to lexa and Google Assistant.

The iRobot Roomba 985 is powered by lithium-ion batteries that are of the best quality. They charge faster and last for longer than other brands. The battery is covered by a 12-month warranty and is guaranteed to work under normal operating conditions. The high impact ABS and Polycarbonate plastic construction give it the strength it needs. 4. iRobot Roomba 990

iRobot's latest robot has the highest level of obstacle avoidance of any Roomba we've tested because of its front-facing camera and laser sensor. This allows it to stay clear of wires and pet feces better than the Roborock S6 MaxV, Ecovacs N8 Pro, as well as other robotic vacuums we've tested.

It is also the most powerful vacuum. It is able to take out dirt with deeper particles or larger pet hairs, unlike other mid-range models such as the Roomba 960. This is due to the fact that the cleaner has larger brushes that rotate counter-clockwise and an engine with more suction power.

The Roomba 995 is also iRobot's least expensive vacuum with recharge and resume features, but it's not equipped with the auto-empty system that the I6+ and I7 offer. It's still excellent on carpeted floors and bare rooms, removing food dust, dirt tracked in and pieces of paper that have been torn. And it's excellent at navigating around obstacles and avoiding them. It's capable of cleaning dirt that has been embedded.
