Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, but they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For example adding a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several items.

This allows the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item level upgrade's badicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an Best item upgrade determines the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item upgrader kit, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an item. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or only have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways, including size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically don't improve the quality of the item's stats when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own many weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own special functions which can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their counterparts in their tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade items it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant increase in their power. This will also increase the defense of armor that has an updated look.
