When I tested the S1, it was quick to identify the downstairs area, which has linoleum flooring in the kitchen-diner and bathrooms, along with carpeting with a medium-pile and an area rug. It was capable of driving up to walls and even across raised thresholds without issue. However it was a bit difficult navigating down the stairs in one go. The S1 performed well in cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and raised itself when it was near carpets or rug.

The docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills its onboard water tank with clean, ozonated waters prior to each mopping session. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough for about 12 cleaning sessions before it has to be empty, but this will vary depending on how often you use the mop.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like all 2-in-1 robots. It is necessary to regularly wash out the dirty tank to prevent it from becoming clogged. You'll also need to clean the swivel wheel and sensors frequently to avoid them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. But, overall the S1 is easy to maintain, especially when compared to other combos that require more care.
