1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its biggest breakthrough is its camera-based obstacle detection system that uses built-in AI to recognize objects like charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that the majority of other robots cannot avoid (and often go through). It's the first robot to send you a picture of an object that it encounters, so you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.

The Combo J7+ is the best cheap robot vacuum cleaner to mop we've ever tested, removing dirt and spills with ease without leaving any trace that was there. It's easy to control through the iRobot Home app which allows you to schedule cleaning and set up Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't clean areas you don't want it to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it with a voice.

The design is also better than the other models. It has a sleek, high-end piece that looks like an toy, not the loud and annoying robot. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt Disposal System is also self-emptying which will cut down your cleaning time.

In our tests, the j7+ was quick to remove dust dirt, pet hair and other particles. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one spot rather than sending it scattering around the floor. It even managed to catch small gravel and sand, which most other robots couldn't do. It did all this without getting tangled up in our pet's hair shed.

The j7+, though not as smart as the Roomba S9 for $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot and cannot clean the stairs, it's an option for those who want both mopping and vacuum. It's not expensive, and the iRobot application makes it user-friendly to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take some time to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to tell whether they're working until you actually see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors then a hybrid is the best robot hoover option. This type of robot typically includes a built-in water tank, meaning they can both vacuum and mop your house at the same time. They also have a range of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance, and the ability to dry and wash mopping pvariety of tasks, functions, and chores that other robots have to leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which most other robovacs require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive, too. It's the only robovacs that I've tested that does an excellent job of cleaning up debris from bare floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.

The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially in the area of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as some other robovacs, which means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of the house. It's not able to navigate stairs as well as some competitors, for instance, and it doesn't have a dock that allows you to create a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.

If you're looking to cut costs or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are many other options on the market. A lot of eufy models are substantially less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for example, is cheaper however it comes with many more features, like stair climbing and a full-function Dock, with an improved overall experience when vacuuming on floors that are unfinished, low-pile carpets and even high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy, an Anker company has a proven track record of making robot vacuums that strike a good balance between features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different, offering a capable cleaning of hard floors and mopping, carpets and other surfaces at a reasonable price. It's easy to set it up, just snap on one of the side brush and then turn it on. Then connect your charging dock. The app takes you through several steps to connect to your Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. You'll need to place the dock near a power outlet and plenty of room to allow it to move around, however.

The G30 is tiny, 2.85 inches tall to be precise and can be tucked away under sofas and other furniture with low clearance. Its design is more subtle in comparison to other models. It is sleek with a black finish and three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs an area in a spiral pattern for two minutes), Recharge and Spot Cleaner. It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to do unscheduled cleaning with voice commands.

The way in which the G30 cleans is what separates it from its competitors. It makes use of an integrated map to make a picture of the immovable items that are in its path. It remembers the items it has cleaned and what it is unable to access. When it's time to recharge, it will automatically return to its base, and then resumes cleaning from where it began.

The sleek G30 has a few issues. The iRobot Roomba is more durable and has lower cost of operation. It charges faster, offers similar battery life and is more effective on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It also comes with a larger dust bin that doesn't need to be emptied as often and comes with an array of boundaries to ensure it isn't in certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller dust canister doesn't need emptying as often and it has less trouble with bulky material such as cereal.
