For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
