It can drive close to walls without crashing and avoiding steps, and it also automatically raises its mop when driving over rugs or short-pile carpets. It was a bit shaky when it came across longer-pile carpets and also there were a few large, thick piles of dried-on debris.

Like most robots like it, the S1 Pro comes ready to roll out of the box and only requires a quick initial mapping run to learn its way around your home. The map will then be displayed in the app, and you can add or merge rooms as needed. You can set virtual boundaries, as well as no-go zones if there's something you don't want your robot to get into.

The S1 Pro does a great job of cleaning up spills from hard floors due to its rotating mop head that exerts 2.2lbs (1kg) of downward pressure on the floor.
