The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests or missions. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade an item of armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of item names. For example, adding a Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple items.

This allows the item upgrader mod to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.

In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that increases the Best item upgrade's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are offered over the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the higher the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with several sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item upgrader mod. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. Rerolling is a method to create a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.

There are a range of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the stats of the item when compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. It will show the item's features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are fully updated.
