Cots 4 Tots - A Charity That Helps Families With Neonatal Intensive Care

Cots for Tots provides a place to stay close to the hospital for families whose babies are at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Great Appeal, the charity that is dedicated to Bristol Children's Hospital, runs the program. Abbey Silvester ran the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run in aid of the Great Appeal.

The Marine Toys for Mini Cotbed Tots Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is a partner in the Marine Corps toy drive. The Cots 4 Tots story began in the year 2010 with a fundraising appeal to Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael's Hospital. The charity has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds since its inception, supporting families with sick or premature babies across the West of England and South Wales. Its work includes providing accommodation for families in houses and providing state-of-the-art equipment for the NICU.

One of the primary focuses is Cots for Tots House, a free "home from home" for families staying in the hospital. It is located right next to the NICU and allows parents to stay close to their child. The charity has helped over 2,100 families stay at the house since 2012.

Families who reside at nursery cots For Tots House are reassured they are not alone. They can discuss their experiences with other parents who are going through the exact same thing. In addition, they have access to a wide range of facilities to make their stay as comfortable as possible.

The charity also supports musicians who visit the NICU in order to reduce the stress and suffering of both babies and parents. It has been demonstrated that this improves the quality of life for patients and their families. Music therapy can also decrease the amount of medication needed to treat children, saving time and money for hospitals. The therapist employs specially designed instruments that resonate, which are tuned to specific frequencies. They play soothing tunes that soothe babies. The resonant musical instruments also help relax fathers and mothers.

Her daughter and son are healthy and well, however she still visits the hospital frequently and is extremely thankful to the team that looked after them.
