World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment.
