WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same Item Level Upgrade from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts.
