However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and automatic vacuum cleaner combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested.
