Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are the multifunctional, versatile partners of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots for your child's new journey.

A pram for newborns is a special stroller for newborns and babies. It is a solid, deep carrycot that is soft, safe walls.

A pram is equipped with a bassinet, but it can be converted to a stroller if the baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns must be protected as much as is possible. A stroller or pram equipped with safety features will keep your baby safe and comfortable during travel. The essential requirements for any pram or stroller are to have a working brake, a five-point safety harness (2 shoulder straps, 2 waist straps, and a crotch strap) and an adjustable wrist tether strap for the person pushing the pram. Make sure the pram you select is in compliance with these requirements.

Find a pram that allows your baby to best travel pushchair in the position recommended for lying flat. This position supports the baby and prevents a potentially dangerous curve in the spine which can lead to spinal problems. By keeping the airways open, it lowers the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams can be used from the moment of the moment of birth. They come with seats that recline into a lay-flat position for younger infants and converts into a pushchair for older children.

The suspension of a pram will determine how smoothly it is. A pram that has lots of suspension is likely to cost more but it may be worth paying for this feature if you are planning to use your pram daily for a few years or more.

Always be sure to read the instruction manual and look over the warning labels on your pram or stroller. When not using it, park your pram away from dangers like bicycles, traffic or other people. It is recommended to take any bags or other items off the handles, as they could cause your baby to be caught or suffocate.

Even if your baby is asleep, it's not an ideal idea to leave a pram or stroller unattended. They could wriggle into the pram and become trapped, or it could roll away and cause injury. Hanging bags, or other items from the handles isn't a good thing because they could fall and hit your child in the head.

Comfort

It is essential that newborns have the option of lying flat as this aids in lung and back development. A lot of prams come with a cocoon or carrycot that creates a cosy nest-like atmosphere for your baby and can be easily detached from the frame. Others, like the egg2's bucket style seat do not recline to lay flat but still provide a comfy ride for your baby.

Some prams include a separate seat or bassinet for the newborn. This allows you to effortlessly switch between sleeping and sitting positions depending on the requirements of your baby. This is often called a 'travel system and is the first thing you should do with youaby between the car and the pushchair stroller without needing to wake them up. These are useful if you have a busy schedule or don't have the big enough boot for prams, however it's important to keep in mind that your child must be old enough and able to sit independently before you can change them from car capsule to pram.

Another feature to look out for is the possibility of raising and lowering your newborn's seat from a low to a high setting, which allows you to maintain eye contact with them and keeps them close to you, something that our parent tester found was really useful with her 10-month-old boy! You should be able to put shopping bags and changing bags in the basket underneath. It should be possible to store bags for changing and shopping underneath the pram (but remember that too much weight could cause it to topple over).
