1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an excellently constructed robot with a large dirt compartment that automatically drains into the docking station when full. It then resumes cleaning once it's recharged. It has a large external dirt compartment that automatically fills up into the docking station when it's full, and then resumes cleaning after it's recharged. It's effective in getting rid of medium and small debris, but has trouble with hair of pets.

Similar to the i3 EVO, this robot employs iRobot's Adapat 3.0 navigation software to help you navigate your home's layout and to remember certain rooms for future cleaning. It comes with a feature that automatically adjusts the suction power and the height of the head in accordance with the type of floor it is working on.

It was a success during our tests on hard floors as well as low-pile flooring, taking away the majority of the smaller and more difficult debris that we deposited on each surface, and the larger crumbs of cereal we placed on the floor. It's less effective at picking up pet hair than other models we test. It could also become stuck on cords or toys if you do not remove them before sending the robot to clean.

In our tests In our tests, the i3+ EVO was clean for around 90 minutes before its battery ran low and it reverted to its base. This is better than the i7+ or s9+ which was able to run for just 60 minutes in our tests. The K10 Plus comes with a small box of wet wipes to get moving.

The application for K10 Plus is easy to use and understand. It has several customization options such as setting a time that the machine won't be disturbed, adjusting its map layout, or setting a schedule of when it should clean. The app monitors the life span of various accessories such as the side brush, sensor and bin filter. This is helpful for knowing when it's time to replace them.

The K10 Plus's battery life is pretty decent too. With a full battery we got three hours of cleaning. It also recharges fairly quickly. It ejects dirt into a large bin in the base station when it's finished. It can be noisy when it occurs, but at the very least it's not as loud as the other self emptying robot vacuums we've test.

4. iRobot S9+

iRobot Roomba S9+ is part of the high-end S Series lineup above models like the iRobot Roomba J7 and iRobot Roomba i3. It's extremely adept in navigating furniture and is able to work well on different surfaces. Its main brushroll has counter rotating rubber scrapers that effectively remove most dirt, including pet hair, from bare floors and carpets. Its real-world suction power is impressive for a robot vacuum, but it's not quite as powerful as the power of top brands like the Roborock S8.

The design of the Roomba S9+ is premium. It has an elongated frame that appears more modern than its rivals' circular bodies. This shape allows it to reach corners and along edges more easily. However, it can leave dust in these areas if you don't turn the corner brush fast enough. However its powerful motor makes up for it.

In iRobot's tests the S9+ was able to take in pet hair and cat litter effortlessly. It also did exceptionally well on hard floors where its powerful motor was able to take on all types of floors and edges and corners easily. Its vSLAM-based advanced technology and Imprint Smart Mapping technology also made it one of the top navigators we've ever tested, with a rock-solid grasp of the floorspace it could even locate its ways under sofas or beds with the drape of a valance over them.

The iRobot App makes it easy to set up and operate. You can choose the functions you want to start during the initial set up process or wait until you've had a better feel for the way it functions. The internal bin must be empty manually when it is full however, the process only takes 15 minutes and is quite quiet.

5. Roborock S8

The most recent version of the Roborock S series is an impressive mop and robot vacuum with a robust feature set. Like its predecessors, it utilizes an LIDAR sensor and camera system to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance. Its mapping system creates an interactive 3D map of your home, which you can view in the app, and it lets you set no-go zones or designate certain rooms for spot cleaning. The app also lets you manage the robot's schedule and create different suction and mopping modes for each room.

The S8 also boasts enhanced HyperForce suction that sucks hair and other fine particles effortlessly. The app allows you to modify the suction power. The device can automatically switch between energy-efficient 'Quiet 'Balanced', and 'Turbo" modes based on the surface it is cleaning. It also has an Carpet Suction Boost mode that enhances suction when the robot is on rugs.

You can control the S8 using one button, which doubles as a general 'Clean button, or an 'Spot Clean button to direct the bot to that area. You can also use the 'Dock/Home' option to send the robot back to its home base. The app is surprisingly dense feature set and is easy to use. It even lets you choose off-peak times for charging to save on the costs of using peak-time power.

The only drawback to the S8 is that its battery does not last as long as it should allow for, with only 130 minutes of use when I left it on its normal settings with both vacuuming and mopping enabled. This is still a lengthy time and was enough to get my apartment clean.
