Zinedine Zidane's chances of being a success as Real Madrid manager are slim, according to his former France team-mate - and fellow 1998 World Cup winner - Youri Djorkaeff.

The former Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Bolton attacking midfielder, who starred alongside Zidane during France's World Cup win on home soil, suggested that he won't be given enough time at the Bernabeu.

'He is the man for the job, but is he the man for Real Madrid? I'm not sure,' Djorkaeff, 48, told Goal.com

'It's a very difficult role. You only have to look at the past three coaches: Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez. How much time does the average Real boss have in the job? Two years, maybe two and a half if you're lucky?'

Zidane's Real Madrid record

Benitez, who was unveiled as the new Newcastle United manager earlier this month, left Real Madrid in January despite winning 17 of his 25 games in charge.

ZIdane has a similarly impressive record, having led his team to 11 wins in his first 14 games in all competitions.

Despite the impressive run of form, though, Barcelona are ten points clear of their great rivals at the top of La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored in Madrid's 4-0 win over Sevilla, their 11th win in 14 games since Zidane's arrival

Villarreal coach Marcelino said earlier this month that he hasn't seen an improvement at Madrid since Zidane's arrival.

'Rafa Benitez (had) experience and has won titles,' he said on Cadena SER.

'He arrived at Real Madrid in a difficult situation, but I do not think the team have improved a lot since he left.

'I say what I think from watching Real Madrid play.'
