What is a ghost immobiliser?

A Ghost Immobiliser helps protect your vehicle from theft by preventing it from starting until a unique pin code is entered. It can be used in a variety of vehicles and unlike standard immobilisers, this one does not require a key or fob to operate. It is also very difficult to bypass or hack and operates silently, meaning a thief would need to work quickly in order to make a getaway without being caught.

It guards against signal jamming, spoofing, and key cloning, all of which thieves have used to unlock vehicles equipped with standard immobilisers. The device also prevents thieves from stealing keys by sifting through your letterbox or getting inside your home to steal the remote control. The device can stop thieves from stealing your pride and joy even if they manage to obtain the key. It stops the remote from being started until they have entered the code.

As opposed to passive immobilisers that require the fob or key to be pressed, a ghost immobiliser is designed to be completely sealed within the engine and is connected directly to the vehicle's CAN data circuit. It uses buttons on your car's steering wheel or centre console, or door panels to create a unique pin code which you will need to enter before starting the engine. The system can also be put in service mode to allow your vehicle to start and drive for short amounts cost of ghost immobiliser time without the need for a pin code, but it will be able to exit service mode based on the speed and duration.

Due to the technology used in the process, it cannot be hacked or bypassed even using advanced equipment like RF scanning or code grabbing devices. It is also impossible to disable with a standard vehicle immobiliser as it doesn't send a signal as a standard immobiliser does and only works by connecting directly to the CAN data circuit.

Does a Ghost Immobiliser operate by cutting principle?

The Autowatch Ghost II CAN has two deactivation modes for valet and services which allow you to temporarily start your car without having an access code, such as the keyfob - when it is in a garage or parked at valet parking services. The immobiliser then will be activated automatically when the car is parked.
